Experience Music in Seattle

Experience Music in Seattle

Where can you enjoy the two worlds of music and science fiction under one roof along with the world's largest sculpture of guitars? Only in Seattle, at Experience Music Program/Science Fiction Museum. On the music end, you can explore the permanent exhibitions "Sound and Vision: Artists Tell Their Stories", a collection of videotaped interviews; "Northwest Passage", exploring the history of music in the Northwest U.S.; and the Guitar Gallery that delineates the history of the guitar from acoustic to electric.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions, EMP/SFM offers travelling exhibitions and features such as Reflections: The Mary Wilson Supreme Legacy Collection, organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, until Sept. 6, 2010.

Fun for kids are interactive activities that include virtual experiences such as an exciting sound lab and an almost-real enactment of a live on-stage performance.

Take advantage of Free First Thursdays which gives you free entrance and live music from 5-8 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month during winter hours.

For more information on their exhibitions, lecture series, family events, and special events, see EMP/SFM.
